The Hillsboro wrestling team won just three matches Thursday when the Indians traveled to Miami Trace and lost a Frontier Athletic Conference match, 50-15.

After leading by as many as nine points in the third quarter, the Hillsboro Indians dropped a heart-breaker Tuesday in Frontier Athletic Conference action against visiting Miami Trace, 60-58.

Howland on Wall of Fame

Paul E. Howland, a three-time All-South Central Ohio League and All-Ohio pitcher at McClain High School from 1969-71, will be added to the McClain Wall of Fame in Greenfield. He pitched for the Cincinnati Reds farm club in Florida and through his first five appearances had a 3-1 record. In 33 innings he had 18 runs (15 earned) on 26 hits while striking out 17 and walking 17.

Jake Browning once again shocked the football world over the weekend by putting up another impressive performance in a 34-14 blowout against a solid Indianapolis Colts team. I have to admit that I didn’t trust that he would have us in a position to still be in the hunt, but I was completely wrong. He is poised in the pocket and has shown over the last two weeks that he has the ability to manage the offense in big games. At 7-6 though, it is going to take more than just two stellar performances to get this team into the playoffs.

Wrestling kicked off on Thursday when the Hillsboro boys and girls team traveled to Washington C.H. for a Frontier Athletic Conference dual meet. It was a clean sweep for Washington, as the boys, girls and junior high teams all defeated the Indians.

The Hillsboro High School girls varsity basketball team appears to be an up and coming program in the Frontier Athletic Conference. The lean years seem to be receding into the past under head coach Heather Storer.
