MHS gets first FAC volleyball triumph

GREENFIELD — The Washington High School volleyball team visited historic McClain High School in Greenfield Thursday for a match in the Frontier Athletic Conference. Folks were treated to a full five sets of volleyball action in the varsity contest where both squads were in search of their first conference win of the season.

It was a sunny Saturday for Whiteoak at the Aaron Reed Memorial Invitational at Southeastern High School as the Wildcats took the top two individual positions in the boys race and Lady Wildcat freshman Addy Hauke earned her first medal.

Hillsboro’s Taylor Thoroman scored the first goal off an assist from teammate Rylie Scott. The second goal came from Scott off an assist from Thoroman. The win left Hillsboro aT 2-1 in the FAC and 2-3 overall.

The Fairfield Lady Lions played host Monday to the McClain Lady Tigers at Buckeye Hills Country Club, which also serves as McClain’s home course, and the Lady Tigers came away with a close 250-256 victory.

Bengals routed; Reds are still in the hunt

Professional football finally arrived over this past week and I was more than excited to finally get back to watching Bengals football. We have finally got to a point where we are expecting to be the best team in football each year and it’s a great feeling. Unfortunately though, this team put together possibly its worst performance in recent memory. The final score of 24-3 isn’t what I was expecting to begin the season, but the biggest concern I have for this team is how they plan to completely turn this around in just seven days.

GREENFIELD — Andrew Potts ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns against his former school as McClain defeated East Clinton 22-6 in a non-conference tilt Friday night.
