LEES CREEK — After graduating a large senior class earlier this spring, the East Clinton volleyball team is going through a few growing pains.

In a shocking move, or at least shocking to me, the Cincinnati Reds committed to the playoff push by calling up the final addition to the roster, Noelvi Marte. I hate that Marte hasn’t been given the same hype that the rest of the young rookies were given as Marte is on the same level of each of them. Marte has the ability to get on base, has quite an arm, and quickly can fill a needed spot in the Reds lineup.

COLUMBUS — Who will start at the two offensive tackle positions for Ohio State has been almost as persistent a question as who will be the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback with the season opener at Indiana a little over two weeks away.

The McClain girls golf team defeated Greeneview, 240-281, Wednesday at Jasper Hills Golf Club after finishing just two strokes off the lead Tuesday in the inaugural Frontier Athletic Conference match of the season, then the Lady Tigers came full circle Thursday by winning the second FAC match of the season.

I had a lot more confidence in saying the Reds would make the playoffs about two weeks ago, but I think we all need to take a deep breath. What is that statement from “Anger Management” — Goosfraba? I think we all could say it a few times and calm down before writing this team off just yet.

The McClain Lady Tigers hosted Piketon on Thursday at Buckeye Hills Country Club and lost the non-confernece contest as Piketon shot 197.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State football team hit the practice fields at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center last week for the start of fall camp in front of 500 fans who paid $30 apiece to attend (and receive a cool hat) and a large media contingent.

If you look at Reds Twitter or Reds Facebook right now, you can see that many fans have started to hit the panic button and many have even given up on the team. Sure, it has been a brutal week of Cincinnati baseball, but we seem to forget that this happened just weeks ago and the team came together to start a winning streak quickly after. Before slamming the panic button, let’s go over a few “relief measures” to make you a little more optimistic:

The 10th annual Adam Sharp Memorial McClain Invitational took place on Thursday at Buckeye Hills Country Club. This was the 14th playing of the McClain Invitational, and the 10th since it was named to honor Adam Sharp.
