Pitzer signs with Heidelburg

Trey Pitzer has signed to play soccer at Heidelberg University. He is a 2023 graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High School. He was named All-Southern Hills Athletic Conference (2021 and 2022) and was the Player of the Year in 2022. He was also named first-team All-Southeast District (2022) and second-team All Ohio (2022). Pitzer was a member of four Southern Hills Athletic Conference championship teams, three sectional championship and two district championship teams at Lynchburg-Clay. Twelve girls individuals and five relay teams and five individual boys and one relay team from Hillsboro and McClain qualified for the regional track meet during the 2023 Division II Southeast District Track and Field Championships held in Washington C.H.

L-C’s Scott transferring from Miami to Oregon

Peyton Scott, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs all-time leading scorer who went onto score nearly 1,900 points in four years at Miami (Ohio) University, has decided to transfer to the University of Oregon for the 2023-24 college basketball season.

Lady Mambas win tourney

The Lady Mambas won first place in The Ballin at the Creek Tournament held May 20-21 in Beavercreek. At the tournament the Lady Mambas beat the Dayton Vipers, 26-17; lost 31-30 to 740 Dynasty in double overtime; beat 937 Hoop Dreams 33-4; and in the championship game beat the Dayton Vipers again, 39-36.

Cook returns to district board

The Ohio High School Athletic Association recently held district board elections and Tim Cook, a 1980 Fairfield High School graduate and the assistant principal/athletic director at Western Brown High School, was re-elected to a new six-year term beginning Aug. 1. Cook has served on the Southwest District Athletic Board since 2011 and as president in 2014 and 2020. He was appointed to the OHSAA Board of Directors from 2013-2015, serving as vice president in 2014-15. Cook will be starting his 40th year in the Western Brown Local School District and 27th year as the assistant principal and athletic director. He served as a SWOADA officer from 2001-2009 and on the OIAAA Board of Directors from 2009-2014.
