Lady Mambas win tourney
The Lady Mambas won first place in The Ballin at the Creek Tournament held May 20-21 in Beavercreek. At the tournament the Lady Mambas beat the Dayton Vipers, 26-17; lost 31-30 to 740 Dynasty in double overtime; beat 937 Hoop Dreams 33-4; and in the championship game beat the Dayton Vipers again, 39-36.
Cook returns to district board
The Ohio High School Athletic Association recently held district board elections and Tim Cook, a 1980 Fairfield High School graduate and the assistant principal/athletic director at Western Brown High School, was re-elected to a new six-year term beginning Aug. 1. Cook has served on the Southwest District Athletic Board since 2011 and as president in 2014 and 2020. He was appointed to the OHSAA Board of Directors from 2013-2015, serving as vice president in 2014-15. Cook will be starting his 40th year in the Western Brown Local School District and 27th year as the assistant principal and athletic director. He served as a SWOADA officer from 2001-2009 and on the OIAAA Board of Directors from 2009-2014.

LEESBURG — The Whiteoak boys and Fairfield girls both claimed team titles at the 2023 Southern Hills Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships held last Friday at Fairfield High School.
Hillsboro boys, McClain girls 2nd at FAC meet
The Hillsboro boys and McClain girls both finished as runners-up and the Hillsboro girls finished fifth and the McClain boys sixth at the 2023 Frontier Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships held at Hillsboro High School.

The Hillsboro boys and McClain both finished third and the Hillsboro girls finished fourth and the McClain on Thursday, May 4 at the Miami Trace Invitational.
