Hillsboro woman charged with OVI, vehicular assault
A Hillsboro woman charged with multiple counts of vehicular assault and OVI was among 17 people indicted Tuesday by a Highland County grand jury.
Five ghosts come alive during annual cemetery event
The Highland County Historical Society is hosting five ghosts, coming from all walks of life, to entertain and inform Highland countians all about their lives and times. The walk will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Hillsboro Cemetery on a stage beside the chapel.

A 68-year-old man from Hillsboro died Tuesday morning in a water-related incident off southern Hatteras Island at Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
There are rides at the Highland County Fair
The number of rides at this year’s Highland County Fair has been limited because of a shortage of available attractions and a company that decided late to go somewhere other than Hillsboro.
Workforce collaboration with other counties
The possibility of a new workforce collaboration with multiple counties was discussed at the Wednesday meeting of the Highland County Board of Commissioners.
Royalty crowned
For both king Brendan Hagar and queen Kathryn Ogden it was the opportunity to help others that made them want to enter the 2023 Highland County Fair King and Queen contests where they both came out on top Sunday on the opening day of the fair.
