Fresh Encounter, Inc. announced today that it will be donating 72,520 meals to the West Ohio Food bank from its third annual Thanks for Giving holiday food drive campaign.

The initiative was available at all of the Ohio Chief, Community Markets, Sack ‘n Save and Great Scot! Supermarkets, including the Hillsboro location. For every turkey bought by customers during the month of November, Fresh Encounter donated 8 meals to the West Ohio Food Bank, the company said in a press release.

“Fresh Encounter is a local, family run business that supports the communities that support us. We are so very proud of our team at Chief, Great Scot, Sack ‘n Save and Community Markets, and are honored that the communities we serve choose us to feed their families,” said Mike Needler, Jr. CEO of Fresh Encounter, Inc. “We appreciate that many of our customers trust that a dollar spent with our stores goes further for their community. Our Thanks for Giving program is a great example of positive reciprocity and proof in why supporting local companies is so vital. We are grateful for the opportunity to give and we also want to give thanks for all of the great work that West Ohio Food Bank does to serve our community,” stated Needler.

The West Ohio Food Bank services 11 surrounding counties. Donations that come in are used to feed those in need, especially during the tough upcoming winter months.

Linda Hamilton, CEO at the West Ohio Food Bank stated, “Our partnership with Fresh Encounter is a collective effort of working together for a common goal – getting nutritious food onto the plates of those in need. Thanks to Fresh Encounter, we are able to serve more of our neighbors facing hunger and provide them the nourishment they need to reach for a brighter tomorrow.”
