Hillsboro FFA attends 89th Ohio State Convention

On May 4-5 the Hillsboro FFA Chapter went to Columbus for the 89th Ohio FFA State Convention. On the first day it toured the Ohio Department of Agriculture and was shown where they evaluate brains and store the bodies of the animals they receive. They taught the importance of keeping the meat frozen and healthy until they ship it off. The FFA members also learned the procedures taken to go through in examining meat and making sure there aren’t any diseases. Afterward, the FFA chapter went to lunch, then went to the Expo center for the first session. It was at this session in which the members learned to transform their outlook on life and make the most out of life’s events. The keynote speaker was Amberly Snyder. On May 5, the group attended three general sessions including watching some of its own members get their state degree, and the installation of the new state officers. This moment was bittersweet, watching two of its own former FFA members, Lauren Grover and Meredith Oglesby, retire their positions as state officers.
