Chamber holds Party in the Country

The Highland County Chamber of Commerce celebrated 27 years at its annual dinner on June 22. Previously called the Party on the Lawn, referring to its usual location on the front lawn of the Scott House in Hillsboro, this event draws over 200 guests from the membership.

To avoid the inevitable June rainstorms that have drenched the lawn in the past years, this year’s celebration was held at the Back Room Paradise in New Market and aptly named the Party in the Country. It was a wonderful change of scenery with both indoor and outdoor areas that the guests could wander.

Party-goers enjoyed an open wine and beer bar provided and tended by Larry’s Party Shop and hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Gibbs Insurance Associates. They had their choice of dinner prepared and served by local caterers, Cow-a-Burger, All Seasons Catering, and Farmhouse Catering; drinks from Ancient Valley Coffee Co. and Ponderosa Steakhouse; and dessert from Batter-Up Bakery. Preluding dinner, members heard a brief update from Chamber Executive Director Melissa Elmore, board chair Amy Hamilton, and Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance Executive Director Matt Appenzeller.

This year’s event was possible thanks to gracious sponsors.

Platinum Level sponsors included: Adena Health System, Southern Hills Community Bank and Gibbs Insurance Associates.

Gold Level sponsors included: Bear Mechanical, Highland District Hospital, Laurels of Hillsboro, Merchants National Bank, NCB, Sothern Ohio RetroFoam, Southern State Community College, TechSolve, Thompson Funeral Services Inc. and Weastec Inc.

“The Chamber thanks all who made this event possible, the gracious hosts at Back Room Paradise, and the Chamber members who attended the Party in the Country,” the Chamber said in a news release.
