What’s going on at Greenfield Library

0

October is the start of our busy holiday season here at the Greenfield Library. We hope our young readers through fifth grade will sign up for our Jingle Books reading program starting on Monday, Oct. 2. Come in, register and pick up the rules and reading log. Upon completion, you will receive a ticket to attend our winter-themed “Tasty Tales” program on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. Details will be at the front desk.

Join us for a book talk and signing with former Greenfield resident and McClain graduate Arnold Robinson on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. He has published two books in his “The Reverend’s Ways” series and is looking forward to sharing his books and experiences with the Highland County community. Books will be available for purchase.

The Highland County libraries will be closed Monday, Oct. 9 in observance of Columbus Day. Please feel free to use our outside book drop to return items.

Come in and check out all the great items we will have in our book sale beginning on Monday, Oct. 16 through Saturday, Oct. 21. We have been cleaning out our cupboards so there will be other items besides books available for purchase. Proceeds fund our storytimes and other programs offered at the library.

Join Spencer McNeil as he meets with teens to discuss and facilitate the formation of a book discussion group here at the Greenfield Library on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Pizza and pop will be served. All Greenfield junior high and high school students welcome.

We encourage our young readers through the fifth grade to help us celebrate fall with our Fall About Me Coloring Contest. Kids can pick up a poster at the front desk to complete and decorate. Return the completed poster to the library staff by Monday, Nov. 13 to be entered into a prize drawing.

Join us for our story times for kids preschool age and younger every Tuesday at 11 a.m. We will have songs, crafts, stories and other activities. Our themes this month include: Bee Sweet with Honey, Fire Prevention Day (fire trucks will be here), Grouch Day, Stuffed Animal Day (bring a stuffed friend) and Happy Halloween (wear your costume).

The Greenfield Library also hosts a Seniors’ Exercise Class every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The class is presented by Edgewood Manor. So come on over and have some fun moving and grooving with us on Wednesdays.

The library staff hopes you will stop in to visit with us and let us scare up a good book for you during the month of October. We look forward to seeing you soon.
