McClain forestry team district champs

Six McClain FFA members recently participated in the state forestry competition. The team placed second in the district and 18th in the state. Members included Destiny Trefz (first in district, 90th in state), Kelli Uhrig (third in district, 103rd in state), Mallory Faulconer (eighth in district, 125th in state), Kaitlin Kellis (ninth in district, 135th in state), Carter Campbell (10th in district, 142nd in state) and Justin Hall (13th in district, 156th in state). The forestry competition consists of tree identification, chainsaw troubleshooting and parts, equipment identification, forest management, timber cruising and tree disorders. The competition broadens the horizons to adequate forest management in students as continuing to expand their knowledge in the forest.
