The McClain FFA Chapter competed in the Western National Roundup Livestock Judging Contest in Denver, Colo. on Jan. 5. The members that competed were Bryn Karnes, Eric Anderson, Ethan Cockerill and Garrett Brewer. These members qualified for the competition by placing second at the Ohio State Fair. During the contest, the contestants were required to judge 12 classes of livestock including cattle, swine, sheep and goats. They then prepared and delivered six sets of reasons. The team was able to place in the top 20 as well as receive fourth high team in the nation in the cattle division. It also had the opportunity to travel to Rocky Mountain National Park, tour the country’s largest cattle feedlot company, tour the Coors Brewery, attend the Western National Stock and Trade Show, and explore downtown Denver. This was an excellent opportunity to represent the state of Ohio and the McClain FFA Chapter on the national level. The members were able to make countless memories that will last a lifetime.
