Fish fry benefits Shop with a Cop

The Highland County Peace Officers Association will have a fish fry Saturday April 21 at Hillsboro VFW Post 9094, 1000 W. Main St. This will be the first of several events the association will conduct throughout the year to raise money for Shop with a Cop and training for law enforcement in Highland County.

“The association organized in late 2017 to come together as law enforcement professionals. Our main project is participating in Shop with a Cop in December, and in addition we hope to be able to provide some timely training for our members,” said Damon Haught, association president.

The public is encouraged to come out and enjoy fish, fries, slaw, hush puppies, soft drinks and dessert. The cost of the meal is a donation of $8. Carry-out service will be available. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m. or until sold out.

“We appreciate all the support the community has given us. We were able to provide a day of Christmas shopping and fun for children representing all public school districts in Highland County last year, with the hope of providing more needy children the opportunity this year,” saidHaught.
