Southside Praise & Worship opening new facility

The Southside Praise & Worship Center (SSPWC) has announced the opening of its new facility located at 621 S. East St., Hillsboro, on Sunday, June 10.

In its present location since 1989, SSPWC began serving Hillsboro and the surrounding area. Pastor Wayne Flowers and his wife Sheila served the church for more than 22 years. In February 2013, Pastor Michael D. Brown and his wife Delana began serving as pastor and continue to serve presently. The church has continued to grow and has been a vital part of the community for more than 29 years. Although additions and renovations to the current building have taken place over the years, this is the first new building in the entire history of the church.

Michael Brown says that the church’s internal focus as it prepares to embark on this new journey is three-fold.

“We definitely want to honor our past, become increasingly active in the present. and be excited about the future,” Brown said.

The new million dollar facility was made possible by financial commitments from the congregation.

“We are very excited about this new facility,” said Micheal Brown. “It will allow us to expand our ministries, add new programs and activities and serve our community better overall.”

SSPWC offers services on the following days and times: 10 a.m. Sunday School, 11 a.m. Sunday morning worship, 7 p.m. Wednesday Bible study.

The grand opening celebration will take place on Sunday, June 10 with a brief dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. followed by dinner in the fellowship area of the new building and an open house from 1-3 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the celebration and open house.
