Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of June 25 to July 1, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 307 911 calls, answered 173 requests for service, dispatched 149 fire and EMS runs, took 26 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.

On June 25 at 3:32 a.m. the sheriff’s office received a burglar alarm activation at a McCoppin Mill Road residence. A deputy responded and checked the premises. Everything was found to be secure.

At 1:26 a.m. on June 27 the sheriff’s office received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 7000 block of SR 124. A third party called after witnessing a physical altercation between a male and female. A deputy was dispatched to the scene, but the male half had left prior to arrival. The victim was interviewed and an offense report was taken. Domestic violence charges were filed on the male suspect.

A Karnes Road resident called the sheriff’s office at 7:26 p.m. on June 27 to report a trespassing incident he captured on video. The complainant was advised to bring the evidence to the Highland County Justice Center where a deputy would review the footage.

Deputies were dispatched to Hickory Hills Lake Campground at 12:28 a.m. on June 30 after a 911 call reporting a fight between several subjects. Upon arrival, witnesses told deputies the conflict was between a brother and sister. However, neither subject wished to cooperate or file charges. No charges were filed.
