Hillsboro FFA competes in soil judging

Six members from the Hillsboro FFA Chapter recently competed in the Highland County Soil Judging Contest.

Throughout the contest each member must express their knowledge on soil quality and structure while also determining if the soil is adequate enough to support crop life. The members excelled in the contest by placing second as a team. Team member Lana Grover was the second overall individual and team member Brennen Priest was the fourth overall individual. Other members who competed were Scottie Eastes, Bryce Stanley, Kelcie Thornburg and Gracie Issacs.

On Oct. 2, the Hillsboro FFA Soil Judging team competed in the District Soil Judging Contest, which was held in Washington Court House. As a team, the members placed seventh. Lana Grover placed ninth overall individual, Brennen Priest was the 21st individual and Scottie Eastes placed in the top 50 as an individual.

Congratulations to all members who competed in the 2018 soil judging contest.
