One of the rooms in the Highland County Historical Society’s Highland House Museum is shown decorated for the holidays, where local authors are appearing on some Saturdays prior to Christmas. Jack Hope will be the featured local author at the museum Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. Hope tells the story of growing up in Highland County and becoming an aircraft engineer who worked with some of the most respected aviation professionals in the world. His book “High Hopes” will be available for purchase. Visit the Highland House at 151 E. Main St. in Hillsboro to take in all the Christmas decorations and trees in 14 rooms. The Merry Mercantile Gift Shop is also open with the specialties of 21 local artisans.
