Homeless shelter offered matching funds

The Highland County Homeless Shelter has been given an opportunity by Riverhills Bank in the form of matching funds for the month of November. All donations made to the Highland County Homeless Shelter totaling up to $1,000 will be matched by Riverhills Bank; which would mean a total of $2,000 for the Hillsboro facility.

The Highland County Homeless Shelter is the only state recognized emergency shelter in Highland County. It serves more than 150 men, women, and children every year.

As the temperatures drop, the homeless shelter continues to see an increase in clients and an increase in the cost of day-to-day operations. Donations may be made on the shelter’s Facebook page, in person, via mail, or at www.hcshelter.org.

“On behalf of all of us at the Highland County Homeless Shelter, we would like to thank Riverhills Bank and the community for their support. We cannot do this without you,” said Tammy DeLong, Highland County Homeless Shelter administrative director.
