What’s going on at the Greenfield library?

The Greenfield Branch Library is getting into the Christmas spirit with some fun holiday programs this December. Our display case is filled with a collection of miniature Santa Clauses brought in by Mary Mick in memory of her husband, Jim Mick, who collected them.

The Middle School Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss “Gathering Blue” by Lois Lowry. We will be dyeing cloth and yarn like the character in the book. Pizza and drinks will be provided. All middle school students are invited. You don’t need to have read the previous month’s book to join.

The High School Book Club will meet on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. We will discuss the books we chose individually this month and pick out a group book for next month. Pizza and drinks will be provided. This is a great month to start because you can read whatever book you’d like before the meeting.

On Saturday, Dec. 8 the Polar Express is taking off from the Greenfield Branch Library at 11 a.m. Children ages 2 through fifth grade can participate in the life-size board game where they hear the story, meet characters, and collect prizes and treats.

The Greenfield library hosts a Senior Exercise Class every Wednesday at 1 p.m. The fun-filled class is facilitated by Edgewood Manor. Join the group in doing exercises geared toward seniors.

Story Time will be every Wednesday at 11 a.m. We will have songs, crafts, stories and other activities for children preschool age and younger. Our themes this month include: Jingle Bells on Dec. 5; O Christmas Tree on Dec. 12; and Candy Cane Day on Dec. 19. There will be no Story Time on Dec. 26, and if there is inclement weather on Wednesday mornings, please give us a call to see if we are open before heading out.

The Greenfield Branch Library will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 for Christmas and on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1for New Year’s.

The library staff wishes all of our patrons a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Feel free to stop by and get a Christmas book or movie to curl up with. We look forward to seeing you soon!
