The Highland County Republican Club held its annual Holiday Party on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Hi-Tec Building in Hillsboro with nearly 100 members and guests enjoying a buffet dinner. Words of thanks from recently elected officeholders including Auditor Bill Fawley, Commissioners Jeff Duncan and Gary Abernathy, Kristy Wilkin speaking for State Rep. Shane Wilkin, and Court of Appeals Judges-elect Mike Hess and Jason Smith were extended to those present. After dinner, attendees were treated to numbers from the musical drama “A Night of Peace.” inspired by the events in World War I and World WarII, and directed by Susan Long. Performing well-known songs from the era were Dusty Barrett and Dianna Coffey. The enjoyable evening ended with all singing “God Bless America” and wishes of a merry Christmas and happy New Year.
