New Hope Youth Day Sunday

New Hope Baptist Church, 128 E. Beech St., Hillsboro, will host Youth Day Sunday on Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. Brother Cameron Harris from Broadview Heights will be the guest speaker. Pastor Tyrone Lawes and the New Hope congregation invite everyone to attend.

The Samantha Free Will Baptist Church will have special singing by the Gibbons Family at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.

Hillsboro Board of Ed

The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at the board office, 39 Willettsville Pike. A finance committee will be held the same evening at 6 p.m. in the treasurer’s office.

Highland public hearing

The Village of Highland will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 to discuss the closure of an alley adjacent to the post pffice. The monthly council meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

17th SATH Radio-A-Thon

The 17th SATH Radio-A-Thon will be held Monday, Oct. 21 from 6-10 p.m. at the C-103/99.5 radio station in West Union. SATH will be broadcasting live and accepting pledges for SATH and KAMPDovetail. Paint Creek Fire/EMS

The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Station No. 1, 640 N. Washington St., Greenfield.

SSCC Board of Trustees

The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 in Room 303 on SSCC’s Wilmington campus, 1850 Davids Drive. The meeting is open to the public. The Long-Term Planning/Facilities Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m., prior to the regular meeting, in Room 320.

Logic and accuracy test

The Highland County Board of Elections will hold a public logic and accuracy test at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the board office. The public is welcome.

Marshall Fall Fun-Fest

The Marshall School Committee will host a Fall Fun-Fest at the Marshall School Gymnasium from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. There will be a variety of carnival games, face painting, grocery bingo, popcorn and cake walks. Game tickets will be 25 cents each or five for $1. Fish, sloppy goes, coney dogs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, cole slaw and homemade pies will be available for a freewill donation. A costume contest will be held at 6 p.m. Registration will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will be used for renovation and upkeep of the gym. More Than a Truck of Treat

The Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene will host More Than a Trunk of Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. You are invited to join in the night of fun and candy. Activities will include trunk or treating, carnival games and refreshments. Businesses or individuals interested in setting up a trunk should contact the church office at 937-393-3545.

World Community Day

World Community Day 2019 will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 1 at Cornerstone Assembly of God 8343 SR 73, Hillsboro. The celebration will begin at noon with a salad carry-in lunch, followed by the celebration. Everyone is welcome. World Community Day began in 1943 as a day set aside for the study pf peace by church women. The day continues to emphasize peace, but has been broadened to include justice, a vital partner of peace. The Southern Highland Joint Fire District will hold its annual chili/spaghetti dinner from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Mowrystown Fire House at 50 Maple Ave. a basked good auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.
