Fun ‘takes wing’ at the library

The Hillsboro library is flying into the month of March with two special programs.

Starting on Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m., naturalist Carol Mundy will be at the library to present “Befuddled by Birds” and offer bird watching 101 tips.

Then, on Tuesday, March 24 at 5:30 p.m., ufologist Cameron Jones will discuss the mysterious phenomenon of UFOs.

“We’re really excited about these two programs,” said circulation manager Sarah Davidson. “We’ve had patrons express interest in bird watching, so we wanted to offer a resource for them to get started.

“The UFO program was originally a part of a Halloween series we did in October,” Davidson added. “Unfortunately, we had to cancel it due to unforeseen circumstances. But now it’s back on the schedule and we’re ready to dive into the fascinating world of UFOs.”

Downstairs in the children’s department, the monthly evening story hour will be on on Thursday, March 12 at 5:30 p.m. The theme is Flat Stanley, and kids will be able to make their own life-size Flat Stanleys.

Kids can also complete a Dr. Seuss Scavenger Hunt and on Monday, March 16, the library’s Easter Egg Coloring Contest will start. All entries are due by Friday, April 10.

In addition to these special programs, the library also hosts a variety of monthly clubs and activities for all ages, ranging from the Lego Club and story times for children to the Tween and Teen Make-and-Create Club to book clubs, writing clubs, and paint nights for adults.
