HCHD Care-A-Van returning to action

The Highland County Health Department Care-A-Van will begin travelling throughout the county again. The following schedule is for March 16, 2022 through Nov. 8, 2022.

The Care-A-Van will make stops at Rocky Fork, Marshall, Greenfield, Leesburg, Buford, Allensburg and Mowrystown each month.

The health department offers the following services on the Care-A-Van: Blood pressure readings; finger stick blood sugar testing; immunizations for children and adults; COVID-19 vaccines; flu vaccines; head lice checks; lab draws including cholesterol screenings, renal (kidney) function, hepatic (liver) function, PSA, hemoglobin A1C, hemoglobin; lead screening for children 1-6 years old and various others.

On the first Tuesday of each month the Care-A-Van will be at Joey’s Pizza in the Rocky Fork Lake area from 9-11 a.m. and at the Marshall Community Building from noon to 2 p.m.

On the second Tuesday of each month the Care-A-Van will be at the Greenfield Community Action parking lot from 9-11 a.m. and in Leesburg at the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and S.R. 28 from noon to 2 p.m.

On the third Tuesday of each month the Care-A-Van will be at the Buford Community Park from 9-11 a.m. and Allensburg Church of Christ from noon to 2 p.m.

On the fourth Tuesday of each month the Care-A-Van will be at the Y Restaurant on U.S. Route 62 south of Hillsboro from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Note that on weeks with a federal holiday on a Sunday or Monday, the Care-A-Van will go out on Thursday.
