Sanders, Shoemaker move on to state contest

The Fairfield FFA has announced that it has several members of the chapter moving on to state level in their Career Development Events (CDE). A CDE is an agricultural contest that FFA members participate in to learn about and practice agricultural experiences.

Sydney Sanders, a junior at Fairfield, placed second in the general livestock judging contest. “My favorite part of livestock judging is getting the opportunity to better my livestock evaluation abilities so that I can apply them to selecting my own livestock for my own herd,” she said. “Also, I enjoy getting the opportunity to compete in a CDE where I meet other individuals who share my interests.”

Another member moving on to a state level CDE is Carson Shoemaker, a sophomore at Fairfield. His CDE is ag mechanic Skills. “In this CDE I have to identify tools and parts and tell what they are used for. Also, you have to use some of the tools,” Shoemaker said. “I would have to say my favorite part is the welding part of the CDE.”

The Fairfield FFA Chapter wishes these FFA members luck as they go on to the next level of their CDEs.
