Adena Regional Medical Center received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2022. This national distinction recognizes Adena’s success in meeting its commitment to protect patients from harm and error in the hospital. Among Ohio’s 120 hospitals rated, only 44 hospitals received a top grade.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public to view at HospitalSafetyGrade.org. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“With the receipt of a second consecutive ‘A’ grade in hospital safety from the Leapfrog Group, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to Zero Harm in a Safety First culture at Adena,” said Dr. Kirk Tucker, chief clinical officer. “Statistics show that patients who receive their hospital care at an A-rated facility have a 30 percent less chance of dying from preventable causes than a B-rated facility, a 50 percent less chance than at a C-rated facility and a 90 percent less chance than at a D-rated facility. This top letter grade carries significant importance for the communities that trust us with their care.
