The Brush and Palette Art Guild held its 59th Annual Art Show at Southern State Community College’s central campus in Hillsboro the weekend of June 25-26.
The artwork was judged by Richard J. Luschek II from Cincinnati, who awarded ribbons for the following categories: Professional Best of Show, Rob Weingartner; Professional Reserve Best of Show, Cecile Baird; Non-Professional Best of Show, Cheryl Collier; Non-Professional Reserve Best of Show, Miranda Fisher; Julia Barthel Award, Kimberlee Giordano; Violet Linton Award, Donna O’Dom.
Best of Division Awards for professionals were given to Evelyn Pierson, Oil; Rob Weingartner, Acrylic; Joan Arnold, Watercolor; Hal Harvey, Pastel; Hal Harvey, Charcoal/Graphite; Tammy Wells, Ink; Cecile Baird, Color Pencil; Gary Schultheis, Open/Mixed Media.
Non-Professional Best of Division Awards went to Cheryl Collier, Oil; Brenda Daulton, Acrylics; Miranda Fisher, Watercolor; Mary Wilkin, Pastel; Amanda Koehler, Charcoal/Graphite; Darlene Ferree, Ink; Cheryl Collier, Color Pencil; and Darlene Ferree, Open/Mixed Media.
The theme for this year’s show was Shadows in Sunshine with first place going to Rob Weingartner, second to Miranda Fisher, third to Elaine Morris and honorable mention to Jean Malicoat.
The Peoples Choice Award was won by Baird for her color pencil drawing “Banana Split.”
The guild would like to thank Southern State Community College for the use of its facility and invite everyone back next June when the guild celebrates its 60th anniversary show.
