Motown coming uptown

A Motown Memory is the theme of Samaritan Outreach Services’ third annual fundraising gala that will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Samaritan Outreach Uptown Community Room, 110 S. High St., Hillsboro.

The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. that will feature what Samaritan Outreach Director Wade Hamilton called “soft acoustic music” from local guitarist Cole Peyton. The music from Peyton continues through a 7 p.m. dinner catered by All Seasons Catering that will include your choice of roast pork loin or garlic parmesan crusted chicken breast served with buttered, parsley red skin potatoes, green beans, a mixed greens salad, and your choice of dessert.

Then at 8 p.m. the sounds of Motown will be echoed by Dayton band Live Your Dreams.

“I have watched them online and they are fantastic; really high energy,” Hamilton said. “I think they’ll be a lot of fun and I think people will enjoy them.”

Proceeds from the gala will benefit Samaritan Outreach, which Hamilton said now serves an average of 950 families a month, as well as the various programs Samaritan operates.

The evening will also include door prizes, a photo booth, a 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction.

“Join us for this rare local opportunity to wear that favorite tie or dress, enjoy a delicious dinner, and spend the evening on the dance floor,” Hamilton said.

Semi-formal attire is strongly suggested.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by calling 937-393-2220, online at www.ourpantry.org, or at Samaritan Outreach at 537 N. East St. in Hillsboro.
