The Hillsboro Police Department and Highland County Coroner’s Office are investigating a possible drug overdose death that occurred early Tuesday morning on Walnut Street in Hillsboro.

HPD said in a press release that officers responded alongside Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District in reference to a possible overdose at 3:57 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of West Walnut Street.

On arrival, first responders found an individual unresponsive outside a residence, according to the release. The man was found to be deceased, and the coroner arrived on the scene to investigate.

Authorities found a small amount of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia on the scene, according to the release.

The matter is still under investigation.
