Adena Health System has announced it is expanding its sports medicine and orthopedic services in Highland County. In June, four physicians with Adena Bone & Joint Center (ABJC) will begin delivering care at Adena’s new health center in Hillsboro, providing services in the areas of sports medicine; and hand, spine and orthopedic surgery.

“Adena has a longtime commitment in delivering close-to-home care for our patients in and near Highland County,” said ABJC Clinic Director Sandy Zickafoose. “Over the past 10 years, our sports medicine and orthopedic specialists have delivered safe, quality care, and advanced surgical procedures in sports arthroscopy and total joint replacement to patients in the region. With the recent opening of Adena-Hillsboro Health Center, we will continue to provide these important services to our patients, and also expand our services to include rehabilitation and care from the area’s top spine and hand specialists.”

Spine Surgeon Dr. James Fleming Jr. will see patients at Adena Hillsboro beginning June 16. Fleming is board-certified in orthopedic surgery, with concentration on spine and neck surgery and treatment. Fleming is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine in Cleveland. He performed his internship at University Hospitals in Cleveland, his residency at Cleveland Clinic, and his fellowship at Weill Medical College of Cornell University’s Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, N.Y.

Hand surgeon Dr. Roger Wiltfong will see patients at Adena Hillsboro beginning June 6. Wiltfong is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and served his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus. Wiltfong performed his fellowship in hand surgery with the Hand Fellowship Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hamot, located in Erie, Pa.

Effective June 5, sports medicine physician Dr. Bradley Strauch will begin seeing patients in Adena’s Hillsboro facility, with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brian Cohen seeing patients there effective June 28.

Cohen and Strauch have provided comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine care for patients in Highland County for nearly 10 years. The duo will transfer care for their established patients in Highland County, with the ability to see new patients in Hillsboro as well.

Cohen and Strauch said they wish to thank patients and staff with whom they’ve worked in the region for the past 10 years, and are excited to continue seeing patients in a location that is convenient and close to home. The team also works closely with local school athletic trainers to provide quality care and treatment for student athletes.

“Adena is committed to delivering quality care for our patients in the communities in which they live,” said Adena Interim President & CEO Dr. John Fortney. “We have a responsibility to the people in the region we serve to deliver comprehensive care, by highly-skilled and seasoned professionals. These are physicians who know the community and the people they are here to help. By expanding our services within our new Hillsboro location, we can assure patients have a one-stop option for primary and specialty care in Highland County.”

In addition to adding Adena Bone & Joint Center’s Sports Medicine, Hand, Spine and Orthopedic surgery services to the Adena-Hillsboro Health Center, Adena will also soon add on-site MRI to the facility’s line of imaging services. Additionally, rehabilitation services including occupational and physical therapy, will also be established in Hillsboro for the convenience of patients.

Adena’s Hillsboro Health Center is located at 160 Roberts Lane, Hillsboro. Services within the health center include: family medicine, urgent care, orthopedics, dermatology, laboratory services, imaging, referrals to specialists and more.
