Two charged with leaving child in vehicle

Two Mount Orab residents have been charged after allegedly leaving a small child in a vehicle Sunday in Hillsboro.

The Hillsboro Police Department said that it responded to the 100 block of Careytown Road on Sunday after receiving a report of a juvenile being left unattended in a vehicle. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 9-month-old male alone in a vehicle. The vehicle was running and the parents had to be located inside the store, the police department said.

Children Services was contacted to assist with placement arrangements for the juvenile.

The parents were arrested and transported to the Highland County Jail.

The parents were identified as Zachary Tyler Bingamon, 26, and Kristen N. Bingamon, 27, both of Mount Orab. Both were charged with endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Both were arrainged Monday in Hillsboro Municipal Court. They were released on own recognizance bonds and ordered to comply with Brown County Children Services. A pretrial was scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sept. 29.
