Among 23 people indicted Tuesday by a Highland County Grand Jury, a Leesburg man is charged with one count of rape and one count of aggravated burglary, both first-degree felonies.

Daniel Jacob Young, 27, was indicted on Tuesday on those charges following an incident earlier this year in which he apparently broke into a woman’s house and allegedly raped her.

According to the indictment, the incident occurred July 11. Jail records show Young was arrested and booked into the Highland County Justice Center the same day.

Highland County Prosecuting Attorney Anneka Collins said she could not comment on the case while it’s pending.

Also Tuesday, Michael Todd Thacker, 43, Greenfield, was indicted on one count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, Thacker allegedly broke into a Greenfield home with a shovel on Aug. 12, yelling that someone was coming to kill him, at which point the homeowner got out his handgun and confronted Thacker.

The homeowner pursued Thacker to a nearby residence, and was able to talk him into dropping the shovel, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states that when law enforcement arrived, Thacker admitted he had used methamphetamine and was hallucinating.
