Foot chase ends with arrest at fairgrounds

A foot chase on Thursday afternoon culminated at the Highland County Fairgrounds with the arrest of a man wanted by authorities, according to law enforcement.

Hillsboro Police Department Interim Chief Shawn Kelley told The Times-Gazette that the chase began when HPD Officer Clint Sharp attempted a traffic stop with a red Chevrolet S-10 on John Street in town.

A passenger, Charlie Davis, 26, Hillsboro, allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and took off on foot, Kelley said.

According to Kelley, officers pursued Davis to the Highland County Fairgrounds, where he was apprehended and arrested without incident.

Kelley said Davis had a holder from the Adult Parole Authority for failing to report to a halfway house.

He was transported to the Highland County jail, where he is being held without bond, according to a jail spokesperson.
