A Frankfort woman who allegedly had to stop in Greenfield for auto repairs while transporting drugs was arrested this week on a warrant in Greene County after failing to appear in court last week in Fayette County.
Jasmine R. Lee, 25, allegedly prepared a quarter-kilo of narcotics at the Ramada Inn in Xenia and transported it across southern Ohio Nov. 29, 2016. Law enforcement officers working with the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force said the package of narcotics was intended to be transported from Xenia to West Virginia, but reports said problems with a vehicle forced Lee to turn around and head back to a mechanic in Greenfield.
Reports state that a detective working with the Ross County Sheriff’s Office near Greenfield notified the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office that the vehicle would be traveling from Greenfield to U.S. Route 35 west to Xenia. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Lee’s 2007 tan Toyota Camry near the Greene County line, where a K-9 performed a sniff and responded positively for the presence of suspected narcotics. U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force agents assisting in this investigation include detectives from the Fayette, Pickaway, Pike and Ross county sheriff’s offices.
More than 217 grams of heroin and crack cocaine were found packaged inside of a cooler in Lee’s Toyota, reports said. Other items reportedly collected into evidence from the Toyota included a plastic bag containing several small bags with a white substance, a plastic bag with multiple Suboxone strips, two handguns, 110 pills, two bottles containing green vegetation, a bag with syringes, sandwich bags, zip-lock bags, three scales, three bags of empty gel caps, Lee’s driver’s license, a hotel card, and three cell phones.
Lee was charged with two counts of drug trafficking, fourth-degree felonies, and booked into the Fayette County Jail. She bonded out of jail and the case was later presented to a Fayette County grand jury. The grand jury indicted Lee on charges of trafficking in cocaine, a first-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a first-degree felony; aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Lee was arrested in Greene County and transported Monday from the Greene County Jail to the Fayette County Jail for failure to appear on last week’s final hearing on the case in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas. A hearing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 30.
