Cody Daniel, a 2007 graduate of Hillsboro High School, has been featured in Forbes Magazine’s “30 under 30” in the category of Science.

Daniel, 28, is featured for his work with his company 3Scan, and its development of a robotic microscope that develops 3D digital reconstruction of diseased tissue, more quickly discovering cancers and leading to quicker, more efficient treatment.

According to Forbes, “Instead of fewer than ten slices, (3Scan’s) robotic microscope can turn a small tissue sample into up to 60,000 slices. Then rather than producing stained, two-dimensional images, its machine vision creates robust, 3-D images, which can be better explored.”

The article notes that Daniel has helped San Francisco-based 3Scan raise $20 million in funding.

The Forbes website also features a video of Daniel discussing his work.

Daniel’s background is in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at MIT, according to biographical information on the 3Scan website.

Forbes says its “30 under 30” lists are vetted by a blue ribbon panel of experts in their fields.
