The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

Aug. 20

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Brian Johnson, 35, of Lynchburg, was arrested on a failure to appear bench warrant.

Johnathan Cumberland, 39, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a failure to appear bench warrant and a parole violation.

Heather Trivett, 27, of Hillsboro, was arrested for obstructing official business.

ACCIDENT

At 2:48 p.m., the police department responded to a four-car crash on North High Street. An investigation found that David Sellers, of Hillsboro, was stopped on North High Street attempting to make a left turn into the Hillsboro Post Office. Vehicles driven by a 17-year-old New Vienna male and a 16-year-old Hillsboro female were both stopped behind Sellers’ vehicle waiting for him to make the turn. Johnny Lake, 31, of Hillsboro, was traveling north on North High Street and failed to notice that the other vehicles were stopped. He struck the third stopped vehicle in the rear end causing a chain reaction that pushed all the vehicles forward, causing them to collide with the vehicle in front of it. No injuries were reported. Two vehicles were towed from the scene. Lake was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

Aug. 22

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Aaron McKenzie, 26, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a bench warrant.

Terra Howland, 40, of Hillsboro, was arrested for endangering children.

Ryan Hurst, 28, of Leesburg, was cited for unnecessary noise by tires and muffler, and reckless operation.

INCIDENT

The police department responded to a residence in the 300 block of Johnson Street in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, it was found that a male subject had entered a home and assaulted the homeowner. The suspect left the scene prior to officers’ arrival and was later found hiding inside a neighbor’s shed. James R. Willey, 33, of Hillsboro, was arrested for assault, burglary, obstructing and resisting arrest. Willey was transported to the Highland County Jail.
