The City of Hillsboro is moving forward with the preparation and planning of Imagine Hillsboro, its first comprehensive plan, and is seeking further input from locals for an informed plan.
The process is heavily reliant on citizen input through participation in surveys, public meetings and workshops to share the community’s vision for the city, according to a press release from the City of Hillsboro.
According to the release, an online survey has already netted organizers valuable feedback from Hillsboro residents.
The survey can be taken at hillsboroohio.net/imaginehillsboro, or requested from the City of Hillsboro and filled out as a hard copy. It should take only a few minutes to complete, and is available through the end of October. The city can be reached at 937-393-5219.
Charlie Guarino, vice chairman of the Hillsboro Planning Commission, will serve as the chairman of the Master Planning Committee, a steering committee that will gather information from the public through various routes and draft the plan.
Guarino said in a previous interview that having a comprehensive plan is “very important” to the city’s future.
“We’re trying to see where Hillsboro is going to be five, 10, 15, 20 years from now,” he said. “We want input from the community, citizens, those working in Hillsboro — whether it’s companies or anyone who feels they can be part of this… We want this to be comprehensive.”
Over the next year, the steering committee will rely heavily on citizen input and review to shape the content of the plan’s recommendations.
The process aims to create a vision and recommendations for the future of Hillsboro that reflect the values and goals of the community and provides guidance to address the city’s challenges and opportunities.
“Your opinions and input are a vital part of the planning process,” the release said.
