Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 15-21, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 312 911 calls, answered 127 requests for service, dispatched 136 fire and EMS runs, took 26 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.

On Oct. 15 at 9:18 a.m. a citizen on SR 134 called the sheriff’s office to report a breaking and entering. An all-terrain vehicle and tools were taken from the complainant’s barn sometime overnight. A deputy is currently investigating the incident.

A deputy was dispatched to a Caleb Hill Road residence at 10:11 p.m. on Oct. 16 to investigate a vehicle taken without the owner’s permission. A report was taken and a warrant was filed for the suspect’s arrest. The vehicle was located a short time later parked outside a Hillsboro business. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Highland County Justice Center.

At 3:13 p.m. on Oct. 19 the sheriff’s office received a call from a citizen reporting an assault on Wagon Wheel Trail. A deputy responded to the scene and interviewed the parties involved along with witnesses of the incident. A female was arrested for one count of menacing and one count of inciting to violence.

A deputy was dispatched to an alarm drop at a commercial property in the 10000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 21. The building was checked with assistance from a key holder. Everything was found to be secure.
