On Friday, May 3, the Highland County Historical Society celebrated the opening of the Highland House Museum for the 2019 season with a ribbon cutting. The Highland House will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Director Vicki Knauff performed the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon and gave a brief tour of the music room and meeting room/gift shop. The most recent additions to the music room include a Hillsboro High School band uniform and a portrait of the Huggins children painted by Emma Detwiler. She pointed out one of the newest displays in the back Pioneer Hallway containing Native American arrowheads and a map of towns. The always popular C.S. Bell display was highlighted at the end of the tour. Tickets are now on sale for the Highland County Historical Society Tour of Homes which will take place June 23 from 12-5 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Call the Highland House for details at 937-393-3392.
