With preliminary work and site preparations for a bridge replacement project on U.S. Route 50 in Highland County completed, construction is getting underway today, June 19, and the route is now closed to traffic.

U.S. Route 50 is closed midway between the communities of Boston and Rainsboro, where contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are replacing the aged structure with a single-span, precast concrete box culvert with wing walls.

The project site is located between North Beach Road and Worley Mill Road, immediately west of Hill Road, and U.S. 50 will be closed for up to 45 days. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured via SR 124, SR 506 and SR 753.

The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $988,668 to replace the bridge, and all work is scheduled to be completed in late August.
