Just in time for the holiday season, the Greenfield Lions Club is planning the grand opening of its annual Candy Store for the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 27. It will remain open for business throughout December.

The store is located at 328 Jefferson St., the site of the former Party Pit. Customers may stop in every Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store will remain open during the annual Greenfield Christmas Parade scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5.

Customers can select from more than 39 varieties of candy. Several sugar-free candies are available as well. Churches and organizations wanting to place orders may call 937-981-4931 or 937-876-9356.

“The Greenfield Lions Club is a service organization that supports a number of local needs. The club provides local individuals assistance with obtaining eye exams and glasses,” the club said in a news release. “Other sight initiatives include eye exams by Ohio State University optometry students for all Greenfield Exempted Village School District kindergarten students and screenings for early detection of amblyopia (commonly known as lazy eye) for all local area preschool children. The club makes donations to the Pilot Dog training facility in Columbus and to local organizations to assist with their service projects. The club conducts fundraisers such as the candy store throughout the year to support these endeavors.”

Individuals that have old eyeglasses or hearing aids are encouraged to drop them off at the candy store during this holiday season. The Lions Club International recycles used glasses and hearing aids for individuals who need, but cannot afford, these items.
