The fifth annual New Vienna Oktoberfest celebration took place on Sept., 20-21 in downtown New Vienna. The event consisted of two free concerts (Blue Steel and Southern Express), a 50/50 raffle (Kurt Benson), a silent auction, German cuisine (local restaurants), local venders, games for all ages and tons of prize giveaways.
The event contests and winners were: The beer stein hoist (Dale Ellenbarger), hotdog eating contest (Devin Ford), longest hula hooping (Erika Collins), basketball free throw (Justin Howard) and Clinton County’s Largest Chicken Dance entised spectators of all ages.
The Oktoberfest pageant was held Saturday at noon. Fifteen contestants participated. The children, ages 0-5 were judged on personality, general qustions and answers and aesthetics. The winners were:
Mr. Oktoberfest — Beau Davidson, 5, the son of Justin and Bethann Davidson.
Lil’ Mr. Oktoberfest — Noah Solais, 2, the son of Jerry and April Solais.
Miss Oktoberfest — Keilei McCoy, 5, the daughter of Kristina Haines.
Lil’ Miss Oktoberfest — Kenley Jones, 2, the daughter of Jodi Jones
This is the New Vienna Planning Committee’s largest fundraising event of the year. Proceeds all go to the New Vienna Community Center. The funding helps run its annual programs that benefit the community.
