According to state officials, Ohio is entering a critical phase in fighting the spread of the coronavirus.

To that end, the Highland County Board of Commissioners announced Monday that the Highland County Administration Building will be closed to the public effective immediately.

The building will be opened at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday for the weekly commissioners meeting at 9 a.m.

For the foreseeable future, those meetings will be held in the basement meeting room to allow for recommended distancing.

The building will then close immediately following the meetings.

County offices located in the Administration Building will continue to operate with varying degrees of staff.

The treasurer’s drop box located in front of the building near the entrance steps can be used to drop items for other offices as well, with the box checked daily.

Citizens who must talk with department heads or staff regarding county business can reach the offices in question at the following numbers.

• Commissioners: 937-393-1911

• Auditor: 937-393-1915

• Treasurer: 937-393-9951

• Recorder: 937-393-9954

• Tax Map Office: 937-393-9964
