One person was flown from the scene of a two-vehicle crash around 4:15 p.m. Friday near the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and New Market Road, south of Hillsboro.

According to Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera, the male driver of a pickup truck was southbound on U.S. 62 when the truck went off the right side of the road and struck a van that was parked in the front portion of the New Market Food Mart parking lot.

Barrera said a man had the van’s hood up and was working on the vehicle when it was hit by the pickup truck.

The man who was working on the van was flown from the accident site by a CareFlight helicopter that landed near the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck did not appear to be injured.

Barrera said the Ohio State Highway Patrol would likely be investigating the accident, but OSP officers were still at the scene of a double fatal accident on U.S. Route 50 that happened earlier in the afternoon.
