The Highland County Democratic Party and the Democratic Women’s Club will hold a joint carry-in dinner on Tuesday, May 3, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Basement Meeting Room of the Highland County Administration Building.

Guest speaker will be the Honorable Jennifer Brunner, who serves as one of the eight state appeals court judges of the Tenth District Court of Appeals in Franklin County.

Brunner previously served in elective office as a common pleas court judge.

“You will remember Jennifer served with distinction as Ohio Secretary of State (2007-11),” said Dinah Phillips, chair of the county Democratic Party. “In 2008 she received the bipartisan John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for her public service, quite a prestigious honor.”

Brunner has assisted foreign governments with rule of law and self-governance matters, said Phillips.

Also on hand will be the Democratic Party candidate for county commissioner, Tara Matthews Campbell, who will discuss her campaign, along with Valerie Gerlach, the Fourth District Court of Appeals candidate.

The party will furnish meat, drinks and table service. Guests are asked to bring a covered dish “and be ready to enjoy an enlightening evening of politics, good food and a lively auction to conclude the evening,” said Phillips.
