Hillsboro Police Department reports

The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

ACCIDENTS:

On May 25, 2016 at 7:13 p.m. the police department responded to a crash in the area of N. West Street and John Street. Upon officer arrival is was found that Atlanta Wolfe, 20, Hillsboro, operating a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt struck the rear of James Jones’ III, 19, Hillsboro, Saturn sedan. Wolfe was cited for assured cleared distance.

On May 26, 2016 at 2:21 p.m. the police department responded to a crash at the intersection of Collins and High streets. Carla Lewis, 23, Lynx, was found to be have been operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala and had went through the intersection on a red light. Lewis struck Glen Hamilton, 62, Mt. Orab, as he was traveling south on High Street in his 2000 Pontiac Sunfire through the intersection. Lewis striking Hamilton’s vehicle caused Hamilton’s vehicle to spin and strike Howard Burgess’ vehicle. Burgess, 53, Leesburg, had been traveling in a 2011 GMC truck southbound on High Street. Lewis was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.

On May 31 at 4:24 p.m. the police department investigated a one vehicle collision on E. Main Street. Terence Cumberland, 26, Hillsboro, had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of E. Main and Chillicothe Ave. Cumberland proceeded to make a left turn onto E Main Street when he lost control of the 2001 Mercury Mountaineer he was driving and struck a utility pole causing disabling damage to his vehicle and heavy damage to the utility pole. No injuries were reported. Cumberland was cited for failure to maintain control.

INCIDENTS:

On May 26, 2016 at 7:32 p.m. the police department responded to a report of theft at Wal-Mart. Upon officer arrival it was found that Savannah Newman, 27, Lynchburg, concealed merchandise and attempted to exit the store without paying. Newman was arrested for theft.

On May 31, 2106 at 7:38 a.m., residents in the 200 block of W. North Street reported that person(s) has entered their home without their permission sometime during the night. A wallet with personal information and $28 was stolen. This report remains under investigation.

On June 1, 2016 at 9:31 a.m. Gerald Williams, 54, Hillsboro, was arrested on a felony probation violation warrant. Williams was found to be in the home of Paula Smith in the 400 block of E. Walnut Street. Paula Smith, 34, Hillsboro, was taken into custody by officers on June 2 shortly after midnight and served with a charge of obstructing official business.

Francis Waulk, 76, Hillsboro — failure to yield while turning left citation

Jennifer Parr, 46, Greenfield — disorderly conduct citation

Russell E. Osborn, 30, Dayton — illegal purchase of Sudafed

Jeffrey W. Chaney, 54, Lynchburg — illegal purchase of Sudafed

Alicia Renee Eaton, 41, Hillsboro – theft without consent

Joanna E. Shepherd, 29, Lynchburg – theft (bad check)

Loretta Crone, 51, Lynchburg – theft
