Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of July 20 through July 26 that the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 384 911 calls, answered 152 requests for service, dispatched 112 fire and EMS runs, took 43 offense reports, and investigated 5 traffic crashes.

At 11:29 p.m. on July 20, an employee of the Marshall Mini Mart came to the Highland County Justice Center to report a counterfeit $20 bill was passed at the store sometime that day. The employee filled out a statement and turned the fake bill over to a deputy who is currently investigating the incident.

A 911 call was received by Highland County dispatchers at 12:28 a.m. on July 21 from the 6000 block of McCoppin Mill Road. The caller reported a 22-year old female had destroyed a television and was fighting with her boyfriend. Deputies responded and arrested Megan P. Davis, Hillsboro. Davis was charged with one count of criminal damaging.

A Lynchburg resident called the sheriff’s office at 5:05 p.m. on July 22 to report a domestic argument at a Dana Avenue residence. A male and female were arguing, and some property ended up being destroyed. A criminal damaging warrant was filed on the male suspect, and the incident remains under investigation.

At 6:26 p.m. on July 25, a Rainbow Lane resident called the sheriff’s office to report she and her granddaughter were in a fight. Deputies arrived on the scene and spoke to all those involved. No evidence of assault was found, and neither party was charged in the incident.

The Hillsboro Police Department called the sheriff’s office at 1:14 a.m. on July 26 after they received a report of a suspicious person at the storage units on SR 73, just west of Harry Sauner Road. A deputy and an HPD officer checked the area and spoke to the original caller, but no person was located.

Accident

On Friday, July 24, at approximately 12:31 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash. Shirley A. Wilson, 71, Hillsboro was attempting to pull from the Kmart parking lot onto Fenner Avenue when she pulled into the path of William Duncan, 53, Hillsboro.
