Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Aug. 24-30 the Highland County Sheriffs Office received 423 911 calls, answered 181 requests for service, dispatched 118 fire and EMS runs, took 23 offense reports, and investigated one traffic crash.

A deputy was dispatched to the 9000 block of Chaney Road at 5:42 p.m. Aug. 24 after receiving a call of a residence that had been broken in to. A report was taken and evidence was collected at the scene.

At 1:54 a.m. on Aug. 27 a deputy attempting to serve a warrant on SR 247 in Washington Township discovered an active methamphetamine lab. The one-pot lab was neutralized and cleaned up by specially trained sheriff’s office personnel along with assistance from Paint Creek Fire and EMS. Two suspects were present at the residence, but no charges were filed at the time or the incident. Charges will be submitted to the Highland County Prosecutor’s Office for presentation to an upcoming session of a grand jury.

A Hickory Hills Lake resident called the sheriff’s office at 8:33 p.m. Aug. 28 to report a golf cart had been stolen. A deputy wad dispatched to the scene where an offense report was taken. Deputies were dispatched to a Black Rabbit Road residence late Saturday, Aug. 29 after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. A call at 11:23 p.m. advised a female had been assaulted by her husband and several young children were present in the home. Deputies arrived on scene and placed Shawn M. Adams, of Leesburg, under arrest for OVI and one count of domestic violence.

ACCIDENTS

On Thursday, Aug. 27 at 2:18 p.m. the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of the 100 block of West Main Street. S. Kelly Kavanaugh, 56, of West Chester, was stopped behind a local business on West Main St. while making a delivery. Michelle L. Clemons, 30, of Hillsboro, was passing Kavanaugh’s vehicle in the alleyway. During the overtaking Clemons struck the door on Kavanaugh’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

On Friday, Aug. 28 at 12:18 p.m. the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Pea Ridge Road and SR 73. Linda Sprinkles, 64, of Lynchburg, was stopped at a traffic control device on Pear Ridge Rd., then proceeded to make a left turn onto SR 73. Sprinkles struck an oncoming vehicle driven by Mamie L. Hottinger, 60, of Hillsboro.

On Aug. 30 at 12:25 p.m. the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Soouth High Street near Muntz Street. Rebecca L Globe, 47, of Hillsboro, was stopped in traffic. Natalie L. Hamilton, 25, of Hillsboro, failed to see the stopped traffic and struck the right rear corner of Globe’s vehicle. Hamilton was cited for ACDA.

INCIDENT

On Aug. 29 at 3:56 a.m. the police department responded to a call from a resident in the 500 block of South High Street. The resident stated that a male and female were at his back porch yelling and screaming at each other and that the male subject was beating on the female. Officers arrived and after further investigation it was found that Neil Enrique Segovia, 28, had chased his 29-year-old girlfriend from their apartment and struck her in the chest by a neighbors back porch. Several scratches and red marks were also observed on the female. The female’s shirt had been ripped from her body by Segovia and located in the Ponderosa parking lot. Segovia fled on foot upon officers’ arrival and was later located. He was arrested for felony four domestic violence.

Gregory Adkins, 23, of South Shore, Ky., was cited for speed.

Lester M. Leffler, 48, of Sciotoville, was cited for speed and driving under suspension.

Michelle L. Clemons, 30, of Hillsboro, was cited for improper passing.

Antonette R. Metcalf, 38, of Hillsboro, was cited for failure to obey traffic control device.

Daniel P. Batchlor, 48, of Hillsboro, was cited for disorderly conduct.

Linda S. Sprinkles, 34, of Lynchburg, was cited for failure to yield.

Fourteen-year-old Hillsboro juvenile was arrested for assault.
