Fairfield FFA attends Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference

The Fairfield FFA recently spent the day at the statehouse for the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference. The members learned how to speak with legislators, deal with political issues and to advocate for agriculture. They had the opportunity to go through a mock legislation where they were split into two groups, legislature and lobbyists. The lobbyists had to give their view on a proposed bill to try and convince the legislatures how to vote. Afterward, they got to meet with the actual representatives. Fairfield FFA Vice President Ryan Matthews said his favorite thing about the trip was getting to meet with the actual representatives and senators. Treasurer Lane Frost said, “Meeting the legislatures was interesting to me, learning how they climbed the branches of Ohio’s government to become senators, starting out no bigger than me.” The students are pictured above with Ohio Department of Agriculture Director David Daniels.
