Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 10-16, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 241 911 calls, answered 139 requests for service, dispatched 115 fire and EMS runs, took 20 offense reports and investigated one traffic crash.

At 2:27 a.m. on Oct. 10 the sheriff’s office received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on McCoppin Mill Road. Deputies arrived on scene and detained one male suspect while investigating the circumstances of the incident. Ultimately, Nathan L. Kinney, 38, was arrested and charged with one count of felony domestic violence.

A Wilson Road resident returned home at 4:51 p.m. on Oct. 12 to find a broken window and several items missing from inside his residence. Taken during the burglary was a lap top computer, a video game system and other items. An offense report was taken.

A deputy was dispatched to a business in the 8000 block of Blazer Road at 5:12 a.m. on Oct. 13 when employees arriving for work discovered one of the buildings had been broken into. A male walking in the area was detained and interviewed, but was eventually released. Evidence collected at the crime scene is currently being processed and reviewed. Further investigation is hoped to lead to the identification of the person or persons responsible.

Deputies are currently investigating two thefts reported in the Rocky Fork Lake area on the morning of Oct. 14. A Highland Hills Drive resident discovered tools missing from his vehicle while a citizen on Dundee Drive had fishing tackle taken from a boat parked on his property. A citizen came to the Highland County Justice Center at 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 16 to speak with a deputy about a domestic violence incident that occurred the previous night at a Penn Township residence. After speaking with the complainant a deputy went to the home and spoke with the male half of the dispute. An incident report was taken, but no charges were filed at this time. The parties were advised to stay away from each other.
