Quilters of Highland County annual show

The Quilters of Highland County will hold their annual show on July 31 and August 1 at the Hillsboro Elementary School. The show will be from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. on Saturday. You may bring the quilts you wish to share in on Tuesday through Thursday, July 28, 29, or 30, to register. There will be 10 vendors as well as many beautiful quilts. There will be a raffle with the winner getting a choice of one of two quilts. Also there will be door prizes and a silent auction. For more information, all Darlene Prosek at 937-393-3031. The proceeds of the show will go to help families in Highland County.

Campground Yard Sale

Rocky Fork State Park will be holding its 6th Campground Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. only. No Friday or Sunday sales will be permitted. Any registered camper may set up a yard sale on their campsite at no extra charge. All participants must clean up after sale and remove all unsold items. Unsold items cannot be disposed of in park dumpsters. Sales are limited to the campsite area. Park is not responsible for any lost/stolen/damaged items/merchandise. Sale of any weapons (including guns, knives or replica weapons) and ammo is prohibited. No illegal items. No animals of any kind. No food vendors. Please keep all yard sale items family oriented. No explicit material. The Park Staff reserves the right to refuse inappropriate items. Extra change will not be available at the camp store. Be sure and stop at the store to check out its sale table.

HC Beekeeprs at farmers market

The Highland County Beekeepers will be at the Hillsboro Farmers Market at the Courthouse Square on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. Experienced local beekeepers will be there to answer questions about all phases of beekeeping. Come and bring the family.

Pancake and sausage breakfast

The Lynchburg Lions Club will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Lynchburg Lions Club/Gun Club Building on Sharpsville Road in Lynchburg. The breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. It will feature an “all-you-can-eat” pancake and sausage breakfast plus other items, such as sausage gravy and biscuits. The public is invited to come and enjoy the meal and support the Lions Club in its many community service projects.

BBQ Bingo & Cake Walk

BBQ Bingo & Cake Walk at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center is Saturday, Aug. 1 and the community is welcome to attend this fundraising event. Players must be 18 years of age and older to play Bingo. Prizes are ribs and BBQ sauce and games are .25 cents per card, per game. Cake walks are $1 per round and are at noon to 1 p.m. Bingo games are 1-4 p.m. Call the center at 393-4745 for more details.

Armco Reunion

The eighth Armco Reunion is planned for Friday, Aug. 7 at American Legion Post 25 in Washington C.H. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 per person, and is open to retirees and former employees only. Reservations are required by Aug. 1. Knauff Reunion

The annual Knauff Reunion will be held Aug. 2 at 12:30 p.m. at the Sinking Spring Community Building.

Property Maintenance and Restoration Committee meeting

The Hillsboro Property Maintenance and Restoration Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 in the Hillsboro Firehouse Community Room at 204 N. East St. to review plans and cost estimates for the proposed plaza on Governor Trimble Place. The meeting is open to the public.

Indoor Yard Sale

The Highland County Senior Citizens Center Indoor Yard Sale is Friday, Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rental space is available now. Tables, chairs and live band entertainment will be provided. Table rental: $10 per table for members $15 for non-members. The community is invited to shop and rent. Breakfast is available for purchase for $4 from 7-9 a.m. Lunch available for purchase from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call the center for details at 393-4745.

Amazing Race is Aug. 8

The Amazing Race of Highland County will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at Liberty Park in Hillsboro. There is still time to register at www.amazingraceofhc.org and event organizers are still accepting sponsors. The race has raised $26,000 for 22 non-profit organizations in Highland County over the past two years. Even if you aren’t running you can join the fun. Hangout at the finish line and listen to the Blue Steel band while enjoying Cow-a-Burger or the Highland County Senior Center and Anna’s Army serving food and beverages. Alzheimer’s/Dementia Lunch & Learn For Families

A free Alzheimer’s/Dementia Lunch & Learn For Families will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22 and Dec. 15 at The Laurels of Hillsboro. These programs will provide an opportunity for families and caregivers to learn and ask questions about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, while receiving support from others in similar situations.
